How often should I get Lymphatic Decongestion Therapy?

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is “how often do I need Lymphatic treatments?”.

The answer to this question varies greatly between each client, designing on the state of your body and daily habits when you start treatment, where you want to be physically and your dedication to creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. After your lymphatic session, it is typical to notice positive changes within 24 hours of your session, however, the frequency of treatments to see a lasting change in your condition is different for each body.

Below I have put together a general guideline to help estimate the frequency of treatments is best certain situations.

General Detox, Low Energy:

For those who come in to remove toxins, increase energy and/or improve sleep, lymphatic decongestion is a great way to restore your body. I recommend coming in for two sessions in the first month to balance and restore the system, followed by year-round sessions once every 3-4 months.

A good way to remember this is to come in at the change of a season. This regular schedule helps keep the immune system at optimal function through out the year fighting off viruses, pathogens and removing debris from the body.

If you are especially prone to illness, suffer from allergies, or have a high frequency of headaches, I recommend coming in every other month, or adding an extra session a week before traveling or prior to the start of allergy and /or cold and flu season.

Detox for Weight Loss or PH-balance

This can be more complicated than just general detox treatments because it depends on your commitment to a healthier lifestyle between services. Lymphatic Decongestion Therapy can be a great aid to weight loss efforts and Ph balancing as well as improve digestive health, however, it is a support tool and you must also make lifestyle changes to restore balance in your body.

To support lifestyle change I recommend coming in for two sessions within two weeks to clear the system, and then monthly appointments for 2-3 months. During this time your service provider will work with you to decide when your body is ready to move to year-round sessions once every 3-4 months (maintenance schedule).

Lymphedema, Swelling, Chronic Inflammation:

Those who have lymphedema, edema (swelling), or a tendency towards inflammation, will find it most beneficial to come in once a month and make it a regular part of their care system. This includes clients who have had a mastectomy, even if they do not currently suffer from lymphedema.

Hormone Imbalance, PMS, Hormonal Acne, Menopause:

Your lymphatic system plays a big role in balancing hormones. For those with hormone imbalances, PMS (mood swings, sore breasts, etc), hormonal acne, and in menopause I recommend coming in once a month for 3 months and then every other month for 3 months, followed by year-round sessions once every 3-4 months for maintenance.

This group also includes new moms to help balance out hormones post baby, reduce brain fog, enhance sleep and relax the body. New moms should consult their doctor is they are concerned with detoxing while breast feeding.

Post Surgery or Injury:

After surgeries or traumatic injuries, I recommend clients come in every other week for 8 weeks then reassess. Each surgery/injury is different so healing time can vary greatly but most clients see positive results such as decreased swelling and pain after the first post surgical session. Clients who have at least one lymphatic session prior to surgery see the most benefit right away.

Cellulite:

Depending on the severity, most cases should begin to see results after 1-2 sessions. Frequency is dependent on the clients goals and how congested the lymph system is. Combined with massage cupping, lymphatic therapy is a great option for treating and preventing cellulite.

“I highly recommend experiencing this service, receiving Lymphatic Decongestion Therapy relaxes your body, restores your systems, and it leaves you feeling amazing!”
