Lymphatic Drainage for Hormone Health
Your lymphatic system can have a huge effect on the balance of hormones in your body. Many clients come in with hormonal issues such as PMS, hormonal acne, headaches, peri-menopause and menopause symptoms and find relief after a few lymph sessions. What most people aren’t aware of is that a healthy lymphatic system allows the free flow of progesterone in a woman's body which is extremely important for managing your estrogen levels. If your lymph system is sluggish and congested, your body has a harder time moving hormones which leads to imbalances, when we clear it your body has a chance to regain balance and symptoms generally fade.
Research shows that the lymphatic system is responsible for carrying progesterone throughout the body—which is especially important for women because not only is progesterone the primary hormone involved in fertility and menstruation, it also balances estrogen levels. This means a congested lymphatic system will greatly diminish your body’s ability to move progesterone around the body causing a build of of estrogen.
So what happens when we have too much estrogen in our bodies? Estrogen Dominance — and a host of other problems. In fact, a majority of female hormone issues are associated with estrogen dominance:
Headaches
Sleep troubles
Mood swings
Memory problems
Uterine fibroids
Heavy periods
PMS
Irregular cycles
And in the most serious cases, breast cancer
Now that you know how important the health of your lymphatic system is, let’s talk about how to take care of it!
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
Lymph is a colorless fluid consisting of water, salts, plasma proteins (albumins, globulins and fibrinogen) and white blood cells that moves throughout your body clearing out cellular debris. Unlike your circulatory system, which has the heart to pump blood around, the lymphatic system has no pump.
That means your lymph relies on you to help it move throughout your body with:
Daily exercise - rebounding and swimming are some of my favorites for lymph flow!
Lymphatic Drainage Treatments
Dry Brushing
Deep breathing
Stretches throughout the day
